We usually respond within a week
Do you want to apply your agronomic knowledge in practice and contribute to the future of plants and technology? Are you curious about how cultivation expertise is translated into high-tech installations for greenhouses and growing systems? Join our agronomy department as an intern and discover how you can make an impact as an agronomist within an innovative high-tech company in the horticulture sector!
What you'll be doing:
As an agronomy intern at Certhon, you will work on crop-related research within controlled cultivation systems. All our research is linked to establishing the right foundation for technical installations. Together with your internship supervisor, you will develop a clear research proposal aligned with ongoing cultivation planning and technical objectives. You will monitor crops from seedling to harvest, carry out measurements, and analyse data. Your results will be translated into concrete, actionable insights for our installations and internal teams.
Your internship will take place at the Certhon Innovation Centre, where we work with a variety of crops, ranging from tomatoes and cucumbers to ornamental plants such as orchids. All our research is conducted within greenhouses and indoor farms; open field cultivation is not part of our work. For example, you will investigate:
How crops behave in a controlled growing environment;
How to optimise growth under different conditions;
How does the propagation of plants, the finishing of plants, and the production of seeds, vegetables or flowers take place.
Please note: we do not conduct research in the field of plant breeding or at the plant cell level
Who are you?
You are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Plant Sciences, Crop Science, Horticulture, or a similar field, and are in your fourth or last year of study;
You are looking for a research internship of 3 to 6 months;
You are currently living in the Netherlands;
You have an affinity with technology and/or greenhouse horticulture;

The internship takes place primarily on-site at Certhon; occasional remote work is possible. Please note that our location is only limitedly accessible by public transport. If applicable, students are responsible for arranging suitable accommodation themselves.
The availability of the internship position is linked to the cultivation planning.
What we offer:

Expert guidance from experienced agronomists and researchers;
An informal, friendly, and ambitious work atmosphere that is felt across the company;
